Marine Technician II

THE POSITION—We’re looking for year-round, full-time Certified Marine Technician II, a mid-level, experienced marine technician who can diagnose issues and solve problems.

PAY: Commensurate with experience, with a range of $25–$34 per hour.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Diagnose and repair marine engines, drivetrains, electronics, generators, stabilizers, and mechanical systems.
  • Plan and install marine systems, estimate projects, and track parts sourcing and labor hours.
  • Manage tasks up to 80 working hours, with high levels of independence and technical proficiency.
  • Perform all work to ABYC standards and document completed work with precision.
  • Conduct inspections and create recommendations to ensure carefree boating for our clients.
  • Support seasonal maintenance, including decommissioning, commissioning, and sea trials.
  • Stay up-to-date with marine technologies and pursue ongoing training opportunities.
  • Test and tune systems to meet performance specifications.
  • Mentor Marine Technician I team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Assist with boat handling, launching, and yard equipment including travel lifts and trailers.
  • Use a wide range of shop tools and maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
  • Foster a positive team environment and participate in daily huddles and company meetings.
  • Take pride in detailed work, excellent time management, and a customer-first mindset.

Qualifications & Requirements


Certifications

  • Two ABYC certifications required
  • Volvo Certification preferred
  • NMEA certification is a plus
  • HVAC certification is a plus

Career Experience

  • 5+ years of marine technician experience

Work Experience

The applicant MUST have experience working with the following:

  • Marine Diesel engines of many makes and models
  • Marine Generators
  • Marine transmissions, shafts, bearings, propellers and drives, of many styles and types
  • Marine electrical and electronic systems
  • Marine potable water systems
  • Marine black water and grey water systems
  • Marine heating and cooling systems and refrigeration systems
  • Stabilization systems

Additional Requirements

  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean record
  • Background Check: Must pass a background check
  • Physical Demands: Must have the ability to:
    • Climb ladders and stairs
    • Lift up to 50 pounds consistently
    • Get on/off and move around boats of varying sizes
    • Work outdoors in all conditions
